Local Bank: What you need to know
What is changing?
Our logo and name are now “Local Bank,” but employees
and ownership remain the same. Bank fees and rates are
not affected. Our phone numbers, payment address, and
hours are unchanged. As part of our strategic plan, we have
added locations in northeast Oklahoma to serve more
community members.
Why is Bank of Cherokee County changing its name to Local Bank?
We are proud to be in Cherokee County for over 100 years, but
we are eager to expand into other counties where a
community bank is needed. As we strategically expand into
communities like Sallisaw and Grove, we want our customers
to know our mission and values remain strong. We are
committed to local, rural and underserved communities.
Are you adding locations?
We extended services to Sallisaw and Grove last year and are
building a new, modern branch in Hulbert to better serve the
community. Our Park Hill and Tahlequah branches remain in
their current locations. Last summer, we also opened a new
corporate office and community events center in Park Hill. We
are as old as Oklahoma and excited to expand community
banking to more people in northeast Oklahoma.
How do these changes impact the way I bank?
The name change does not affect customers in any way. There
will be no interruption in your service or experience, including
automatic withdrawals or payments tied to your account.
You may continue using your existing checks and debit cards,
including those bearing the“Bank of Cherokee County”
logo and name.
Will your services stay the same?
Our services remain consistent, but with improvements! We
continue to provide community-based services and products
while adding new and improved services to our customers.
Are fees and rates affected by the name change?
No. Account fees remain unchanged. The name change will
not affect interest rates on existing or future loans.
Has bank ownership changed?
No. Our bank has been locally owned and operated since 1907.
Our status as the only Native-owned, woman-owned
community bank in the United States remains a daily source of
pride for our employees.
What is a "community bank?"
The phrase “community bank” describes our mission as a
CDFI or “Community Development Financial Institution."
CDFIs aim to expand economic opportunity in low-income and
rural communities by providing access to financial products,
services, financial literacy programs and other community based programs. We are proud of our CDFI status and look
forward to expanding our reach to northeast Oklahoma
communities that need our services.
What language is on the new logo, and what does it say?
Being Cherokee owned and operated since 1907, we take great
pride and care in preserving the Cherokee language. Our new
logo reads “Our Community Bank” in Cherokee.
